Keith Wyness drops Steve Cooper verdict after Leicester dressing room reveal.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness believes that Steve Cooper will have to “work his magic” at Leicester as his lack of January spending power has been revealed.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – revealed the Foxes won’t have much money to splash in the upcoming transfer window.
The newly promoted side currently sit 15th in the Premier League table, and with just three points between them and the relegation zone the injection of new players could be a difference maker.
However, the 44-year-old is not expected to have much money to freshen up his squad with and the club are also hesitant to sell.
The focus for Cooper will instead be on bringing his team together, which could be tough as Football Insider revealed that the dressing room have been unconvinced by his methods.
Steve Cooper will have to focus on his current Leicester City squad
Wyness told Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast: “It’ll be difficult at the moment.
“I don’t think that they’ll want to sell, and I don’t think that they’ll be able to buy much, so it’s going to be difficult for them in the window.
“That’s the big thing that he’s got to do and that’s the focus of, should be the whole club right now, getting behind the manager.”
