Aaron Rodgers slammed by legendary NFL quarterback over his poor leadership: ‘Just hurts me’.
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers was slammed by former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick on social media for his poor leadership after he attacked a teammate in the press after a recent loss.
Rodgers criticized Jets wide receiver Mike Williams and said his teammate ran an incorrect route that led to the game-clinching interception for the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.
Several former quarterbacks alongside Fitzpatrick have also spoken out against Rodgers’ comments, believing he should have made the comments behind closed doors.
Rodgers’ questionable remarks came on Pat McAfee’s show, starting the interview with a cameo from new teammate Davante Adams.
‘This response is the biggest thing I don’t understand about Aaron….can be super charismatic, his swagger gives teammates the ultimate confidence,’ Fitzpatrick said on X.
BUT why can’t he shoulder ALL the blame in the media and then get behind closed doors with Mike Williams or the whole offense or the whole team or anyone else that isn’t doing their job and tell them he needs more out of them?’
‘The need to set the record straight at the expense of someone lesser than just hurts me.’
Rodgers appearance on McAfee came the next day after the loss, meaning he had already had
chances to address Williams directly about the play.
The Jets are 2-4 having already fired head coach Robert Saleh last week. The trade for Adams underscores the franchise’s small window to win a Super Bowl with this roster intacts
