Thomas Frank praises £150,000 per week Danish midfielder in United’s win over Brentford.
After a flurry of dismal showdowns, Manchester United’s cinematic 2-1 victory against Brentford at Old Trafford last Saturday was a ray of light. While the manager Erik Ten Hag’s job remains at stake, this overwhelming Premier League win will surely bring them a big morale boost as they gear up to take on Fenerbahçe in their forthcoming Europa League encounter at Istanbul.
This marked United’s third win of the season, with credit to the goalscorers Alejandro Garnacho, who struck the equalizer for the Red Devils, and Rasmus Hojlund, who scored the winner and opened his scorebook in his fourth appearance of the season.
Amidst the ongoing fervor, the Bees’ boss Thomas Frank praised one of United’s midfielders for his stellar performance throughout the entire derby.
Thomas Frank on Christan Eriksen
Brentford’s manager Frank opened up on every factor following his team’s defeat against United. Moreover, the Dane spoke in high regard of the Danish midfielder Christan Eriksen, who according to the Bees manager, was the show-stopper of the game.
‘It was pretty even in the first half, maybe we were slightly on top. We knew they would come out strong but it’s disappointing to concede two minutes into the second half, that of course is not good enough. Credit to United, some of their players reached a better level, Christian Eriksen was running the show, definitely.’
Despite the swirling rumors of Eriksen’s departure from United in the winter, his performance keeps shining on a high note for his current employers. While their skipper Bruno Fernandes is proving to be a constant flop, the experienced Danish International is holding things on a high note for them.
It has been reported that the club is not going to extend Eriksesn’s contract which expires next summer and chances are very high that the 32-year-old will seek a new destination for himself in the next summer transfer window.
While United’s fresh midfield signing Manuel Ugarte has been not able to spark his charm till now, and this still stands on a sensitive point, it is likely to see what effect Eriksen’s departure will have on the club.
It is worth noting that the Middelfart-born joined United from Brentford in 2022 and is currently bagging around £150,000 per week from his current employers.
His performance this season could play a deciding role in his contract extension with the record Premier League winners, as they fight hard to restore their lost glory.
