CF Estrela da Amadora have signed Guilherme Montoia following his exit from Norwich City, as announced by their official X account.
Norwich City cut ties with the defender this past summer, despite him still having a year left. He subsequently became a free agent and has since been weighing up his options in the game.
Montoia, 21, has now been snapped up by CF Estrela da Amadora in the Primeira Liga. They were promoted in 2023 and finished 14th out of 18th last season.
They have now announced on X that they have landed a new signing to bolster their defensive ranks. Former Manchester United winger Nani also plays for them after joining them after leaving Adana Demirspor.
New club for departed Norwich City man
Norwich City snapped up Montoia last year to boost their development squad.
He went on to play 11 competitive matches for the Canaries’ Under-21’s side and didn’t play for their first-team in the end as they made the play-offs under former manager David Wagner. However, they lost at the semi-finals stage over two legs to Leeds United.
The youngster said after moving to England, as per the club website: “I feel very good [to sign for the club], it’s a historical club, a big club, so I’m very excited.
“It’s very important to know that you can reach your goal of getting into the first-team, so this is very important for me.”

Montoia rose up through the academy at Benfica and was a regular for the Portuguese giants at various different youth levels.
He played 40 matches for their Under-23’s before Norwich City signed him and chipped in with three goals and five assists. His move to CF Estrela da Amadora is an opportunity for him to move back home to Portugal.
