Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin suffered an ankle injury on Monday night, and the situation is unfortunately as serious as it appeared.
Godwin caught a pass for a first down late in the fourth quarter of the Buccaneers’ 41-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. He was hit low by linebacker Roquan Smith and appeared to suffer a gruesome lower-leg injury on the play.
Godwin had his left leg placed in an air cast and was taken to the locker room. Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles revealed after the game that the veteran wideout suffered a dislocated ankle.
On Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported that Godwin will undergo surgery and miss the remainder of the 2024 season. Godwin is expected to make a full recovery for 2025.
