Setchell happy as Corby Town provide perfect response to first league defeat
Gary Setchell hailed his Corby Town players after they produced the perfect response to last week’s first defeat of the season at the hands of title rivals Quorn.
The Steelmen travelled to Bedworth United and overcame the setback of conceding a fourth-minute opener to win 3-1 and ensure they stay top of the Pitching-In Northern Premier League Midlands Division.
Goals from Mattew Slinn, Northampton Town loan signing Neo Dobson and 12-goal top-scorer Fletcher Toll sealed the victory, and ensure the Steelmen stay a point clear of Quorn, who were last-gasp 2-1 winners over AFC Rushden & Diamonds.
“We came in for a bit of stick after last week, collectively and individually, and that was the best way to answer that,” Fletcher told @corbytownfc.
“To come out and put on a hard-working performance, because that wasn’t flashy, it was more graft than anything else, was good and we scored three unbelievable goals.
“I am really happy, although I was disappointed with the start and conceding from a set-piece was horrible, but that was a tough team to pick.
