Luton Town – Back To The Great VAR Debate.
I always thought we were playing a game called football, but which variant is now my question?

Last season we were combatants in the variety where something called VAR was involved.
At the time, like many others, I offered my objections to an outside source becoming involved in the game, most notably because decisions took so long to be forthcoming and the flow of the game was often disrupted.
This season we are playing the variant whereby VAR doesn’t exist, something I thought I would prefer, but after last night, I’m not so sure now!
Against Sunderland, and without VAR, we did not get the rub of the green with regards to several decisions.
In my opinion, Carlton Morris’ goal would have stood if VAR had interjected, as there is no way Jordan Clark was interfering with play.
There would also, surely, have been a case for a VAR review on one of the Sunderland goals when Tahith Chong looked to have been fouled.
Plus, the handball shout, in the closing seconds of the game would surely have also gone to a VAR review.
But, in the cold light of day, we have to live with the on-field decisions and accept the mantra that things even themselves out over the course of a season.
However it shouldn’t be like that, surely the rules should be the same at all the top levels of the game, should they not?
