Turkish ‘wonderkid’ who rejected Newcastle United for Real Madrid is now having second thoughts.
In the summer of 2023 Newcastle United were said to be high on the list of clubs being considered by Turkish wonderkid Arda Guler.
It was a summer full of transfer speculation in which fans actually believed many of the stories that were being reported as Newcastle had just had an outstanding Premier League campaign and were heading into the Champions League for the first time in 20 years.
Fans were sure that the club once again had the pull to lure top players to St James’ Park so most transfer stories were met with hope.
One in particular was Newcastle’s chase of Fenerbahce ace Arda Guler as reports suggested the Magpies were closing in on the young talent.

Arda Guler is being tracked by Newcastle, Tottenham and Aston Villa
Newcastle have been monitoring Arda Guler since missing out on him to Real Madrid
Arda Guler ended up signing for Real Madrid but ever since, Newcastle have kept an eye on the situation as the now 19-year-old struggles for minutes at the Spanish giants.
He had to wait until January of that season to make his debut after having bad luck with injuries and since then his appearances have been spotty. Although when he has played he has shown flashes of what he can do, but The Boot Room are now reporting that his lack of game time is giving him pause for thought.
The report suggests that Newcastle, Aston Villa and Tottenham are all keeping tabs on the situation.

Newcastle were linked with Arda Guler again in July this year
Newcastle have been linked with Arda Guler in every window since he moved to Madrid, so once again being touted as a potential destination isn’t a shock. In fact, there were reports that Newcastle were to offer Madrid £67 million for the teenager in July this year.
We doubt there’s much to this story as Madrid are unlikely to let him go so soon after signing him when he hasn’t been given a chance to fully prove himself.
Unless of course, the main reason for him not breaking into the starting XI is because they don’t feel he’s progressing as well as they’d hoped.
Arda Guler is an amazing talent and one we’d love to have at Newcastle, but it just feels like a bit of a pipe dream these days.
