Cleveland Cavaliers Broke 2 Records in Spectacular Opening Day Win Vs. Toronto Raptors.
After a tight first period, the Cleveland Cavaliers blew the game wide open in the second period by outscoring their hosts 36-17, and they never looked back from there.
According to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, the 136 points scored by Kenny Atkinson’s side is the most they’ve had in a non-overtime regular season game on the road in franchise history. It’s also their highest point total in a season opener, surpassing the previous mark set over three decades ago.
The Cleveland Cavaliers had six players scoring in double figures. Evan Mobley led the way with 25 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals, and three blocks, while Donovan Mitchell had 21 points, two rebounds, three assists, three steals, and one block.
The team also had great production off the bench, as Caris LeVert, Ty Jerome, and Georges Niang combined for 44 points. Cleveland also had a significant edge in the points in the paint category at 68-38.
Evan Mobley sets the tone for the Cleveland Cavaliers
The Toronto Raptors had no answer for Evan Mobley, who was all over the place in this game. This didn’t surprise his frontcourt mate, Jarrett Allen, as he believes that the former USC standout is just getting started after he signed his mammoth extension earlier this summer.

“That’s just what we expect him to do now,” Allen said of Mobley’s performance via Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com. “We put the ball in his hands so he can be a star now, and he definitely lived up to that standard.”
Jarrett Allen also put in a great shift for Cleveland, notching 14 points, seven rebounds, and four blocks in 26 minutes.
