Elijah Adebayo reports racist abuse after scoring first goal of the season.

Luton Town say they’re “angry, upset and frustrated”.

Luton Town player Elijah Adebayo’s faced further racist abuse on social media, just one year on since the Club last posted about abuse directed towards the forward.

The club say they’re “angry, upset and frustrated” to report the abuse was notified to them, following their match against Sunderland on Wednesday evening.

Adebayo scored his first goal of the season.

It’s been reported to the police and Meta and is now being investigated.

The club’s called the individual who sent Elijah the message that they are “not a faceless account” but one they’ve “sadly become accustomed to reporting in recent years”.

In a statement posted to Luton Town’s website, they said “We know who you are and you know who you are. You’re not a faceless account, one which we have sadly become accustomed to reporting in recent years.

But as if you have the balls to come to Kenilworth Road and say it to his face. We dare you. If you do, you’ll be faced with everyone at Luton Town Football Club, standing side-by-side with Elijah.”

The statement goes on to say support will always be provided to any player or staff member is abused, and they stand by Elijah “unequivocally”.

Last season Luton Town showed their staff messages of racism and abuse that their players had been subjected to.

The club say they will continue to support and champion initiatives to get the message through to “the ignorant minority”.

Just last week Jacob Brown and Mads Andersen visited Ferrars Junior School in Luton to take part in an anti-discrimination workshop.
