The New York Yankees have advanced to their first World Series since winning it all back in 2009.

They were able to win the ALCS by defeating the Cleveland Guardians in five games.

It has been 15 years since the Yankees won the American League pennant, and Yankees executive Brian Cashman recently weighed in on why it took that long.

“I hate the 15-year thing because it completely forgets and discounts that some other organization cheated us,” Cashman said, via Jomboy Media.

The cheating Cashman refers to is the scandal that occurred in the 2017 and 2018 seasons, when the Houston Astros were allegedly stealing signs and revealing pitches.

A basic rundown of the cheating includes the Astros organization using video cameras to steal signs from opposing teams and banging on garbage cans to relay what pitches were being thrown.

Cashman appears to not be over it as he believes that the Yankees would have won the pennant if it wasn’t for the tactics used by the Astros in those seasons.

Astros players including Jose Altuve are still booed by opposing team’s fans during regular season games to this day.

The legitimacy of the 2017 World Series title won by the Astros, after they defeated the Yankees in a seven-game ALCS, has been called into question due to the cheating scandal.

Although the Yankees may have been cheated out of a pennant that season, they are back in the World Series with a chance to win the 28th title in franchise history.
