FOOTBALL – Mark Robins praises Coventry City’s character after comeback win against Luton
MARK Robins praised Coventry City’s character after the Sky Blues came from two goals down to beat Luton Town and climb out of the relegation zone.
Haji Wright scored an injury time winner for City at the Coventry Building Society Arena after Ellis Simms and Victor Torp both found in the net in a stirring second-half comeback.
And Sky Blues boss Robins heaped praise on the home crowd for sticking with the team despite falling two goals behind at the break.
Robins said: “We got in a number of times and created some really good chances, set pieces were really good and inventive and we had a number of chances to take the lead and then with their first chance and second chance they score both and we’re two-nil down.
“We’re looking at the character to turn it around and we spoke about it at half-time and said how important the next goal is.
“They were in the game and we felt that because of the chances and possession we had and from that point on we had control of the game.
“The crowd were fantastic. I asked for that and I got that, so I’m really happy. You can see the benefits of sticking with the players and I thank them for it, because it’s been difficult but it’s just one step.
“We need to make more steps into picking more points up and climbing the league to get to where we want to be.
