Sunderland could deploy teenage striker Eliezer Mayenda against QPR this weekend in what would be the 19-year-old’s first appearance for the Black Cats since September.
The striker, who led the line for the North East club in the opening weeks of the season, has missed the last six league games due to injury. Regis Le Bris had teased that the player was close to a return earlier this month and that now looks to be imminent after the striker was spotted in action during an open training session on Tuesday.
The former Sochaux man had been enjoying a breakthrough campaign before injury, bagging a brace in the 4-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday in August.
