I expect Plymouth Argyle boss Wayne Rooney to do something slightly different at Leeds United
Plymouth Argyle are in the lower reaches of the Championship
A quick glance at the Championship table suggests Leeds United and Plymouth Argyle are two clubs going in very different directions. While the Whites are firmly in the mix for automatic promotion, it seems that the Pilgrims face an uphill battle to avoid the drop.
United enter Saturday’s clash on the back of a seven-match unbeaten run. They have only lost once in 12 matches but trail early pacesetters Sunderland by five points.
In stark contract, Argyle are hovering just above the relegation zone after winning just three times under head coach Wayne Rooney. Their away form has stalled their progress, with the Pilgrims yet to pick up maximum points on the road this season.
“I am going to look into my crystal ball and suggest that Wayne Rooney is going to do something slightly different, albeit I am a little bit conflicted,” EFL pundit Sam Parkin told the Championship Check-In show.
“They went obviously to some big teams in the Championship, some top teams, and performed admirably and only lost narrowly, so that could easily happen again. I will go for them to be set up differently, maybe pose a little bit more of a threat but still come away defeated, 3-1 Leeds.”
Farke will have to make one enforced change to his back four as Jayden Bogle will serve a one-match suspension after collecting five yellow cards. Junior Firpo is in line for a recall after completing his ban and could return at left-back, with Sam Byram moving to the opposite flank to cover for Bogle.
