Lewis O’Brien set for £7m transfer after Leeds United approach
Leeds United look likely to miss out on the signing of Lewis O’Brien with the midfielder set to sign for LAFC in a £7million deal, according to The Sun on Sunday.
The newspaper reported on Sunday (3 November, page 55) that Leeds and Hull had both approached Nottingham Forest with enquiries about the 26-year-old midfielder.
However, after impressing on loan in MLS, it looks as though O’Brien is signing permanently for LAFC with a £7million deal already lined up.
Lewis O’Brien could have been a game-changer for Leeds United
The Whites have had an excellent campaign so far and their 3-0 win against Plymouth on Saturday, 2 November got them back on track after a goalless draw against Bristol City.
Daniel Farke has had his side weakened with injuries and lack of midfield depth is something that has cropped up several times on a list of concerns.
O’Brien would have not only added depth but arguably improved that midfield massively but any transfer now looks increasingly unlikely.
The Forest man has a wealth of Championship experience and his most recent loan spell with Boro demonstrated the high level of ability he possesses.
Leeds United may still make enquiries in regards to his availability but it is likely Farke’s side will have to look elsewhere in January to bolster their squad.
