Oxford United boss Des Buckingham previews Hull City
DES Buckingham says Hull City are unique in their playing style compared to other teams he has seen in Sky Bet Championship so far.
Oxford United welcome the Tigers tonight, with both teams enduring something of a sticky patch.
The U’s are without a win in eight matches, while Tim Walter’s Hull side have gone five games without a victory.
Immediately before that run though, the Tigers beat Stoke City, Cardiff City and Queens Park Rangers in consecutive matches, scoring 10 goals.
United head coach Buckingham has been impressed when things have clicked for the Tigers.
He said: “They’re very fluid with their movement. They’ve got some real ideas in how they want to play the game, which are very different to any other team I’ve seen in this league.
“They’re very free-flowing, both in terms of the ball, but also their positions, especially when they build up the pitch.
“That’s something we have to be aware of, and it’s another challenge we will prepare ourselves for.
“You can see what they’re trying to do, and you see when it comes together, how effective it can be.
“But at the same time, when teams see what you’re doing, they try and put a stop to that.
“We’ve seen that this year when we’ve stopped teams doing one thing, they do another.
“It’s making sure that as a head coach, you get the time to implement your ideas and for people to understand them.
“Then it’s making sure you adapt and evolve your ideas because if you’ve only got one way of doing something, it becomes very predictable.”
