Millwall striker not being ruled out of playing return at Stoke City

Millwall striker Tom Bradshaw has a chance of being back in the matchday squad for Saturday’s lunchtime fixture against Stoke City.

Bradshaw, midfielder Billy Mitchell and winger Adam Mayor all got minutes for the club’s U21 side in a 2-1 loss at Brentford on Monday.

Wales international Bradshaw has been out since suffering a major hamstring injury in the EFL Cup tie against Leyton Orient in August.

A quad problem has kept out Mitchell for the entirety of the current campaign.

“Bradders and Billy did 45 minutes, so that was a huge positive,” Lions head coach Neil Harris told the South London Press. “Adam Mayor did another 70 minutes – he is following his pathway to being fit after the international break.

“We just thought it was important that Bradders got 45 minutes of match action before coming back into the first-team picture. I’m delighted for him.

“Billy is going to have to follow the same pathway as Adam has – three or four games – because his last match action was at Swansea on the final day of last season – six months and a day since he last played. He needs a few games to get up to speed.

“With Tom we’re hoping it is slightly quicker.

“We’re not ruling Tom out of at Stoke at the moment. Just because of his experience, knowing his body and how he plays the game. If Tom was going to be involved going towards the Stoke fixture we would need to manage him in the correct manner.”
