Signing from Brighton endures ‘very disappointing’ game – Doubts emerge about ability.
Last week, Billy Gilmour was praised by Napoli manager Antonio Conte and there was an outpouring of appreciation from the Italian media for the signing from Brighton.
At the weekend, Napoli took on Atalanta in a game that was always going to be important for the title race. The Partenopei suffered a 3-0 defeat and Gilmour didn’t impress, as the Napoli midfield was constantly overrun.
It seems as if the stance on the ex-Brighton man has changed quickly, and people are popping up in the media to doubt him.
AreaNapoli note that the performance against La Dea was ‘very disappointing’ from the Scotland international and they question who the real Gilmour is, highlighting how his performances have seen ups and downs.
They believe those who have seen him play often have no doubts, and Roberto De Zerbi was a fan at Brighton, so it might be too early to judge him.
There’s even a suggestion the player might have been carried away by the praise from Conte earlier.
If Gilmour thought he was under a microscope when playing in the Premier League with Brighton then that will be nothing like the media drama he’s living in Naples.
