Wolves are expected to try and strengthen their squad in the January transfer window to aid the fight against relegation, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that “money has been tight” for the Premier League side.
The club failed to replace Max Kilman during the summer transfer window, and that has been reflected by the fact Wolves have the worst defensive record in the division this season.
The hierarchy wants to strengthen the team if the right players are available in January, but it will boil down to finances.
Well-placed sources revealed to Football Insider that there will not be a lot of funds available for whoever the manager is, with Gary O’Neil’s position in charge currently under lots of pressure.
Wolves are currently in a relegation battle after winning just once in the opening 11 fixtures, which is why the club are looking to bring in new faces.

The owners might have to dip their hands in their pockets to provide some finances to help the manager improve the squad for the second half of the campaign.
The club sold Kilman and Pedro Neto during the summer transfer window, weakening the squad as they were not properly replaced.
Wolves picked up their first win of the season during their most recent outing against Southampton, which lifted them off the foot of the table.
O’Neil’s side are just two points adrift of safety at the moment and will face Fulham on 23 November when club football returns.
